The punch shot is a shot that can be used for the hitting low into the wind or under low hanging branches. The aim of the shot is to keep the ball low and still maintain a good distance. There are a few points to remember to achieve this.

  1. 1. Club face- Firstly for the ball to stay low you must have a lower lofted club. To make sure the ball does not rise high keep your hands positioned slightly in front of the ball.
  2. 2. Ball position- To make sure your club descends correctly onto the ball please, place the ball into the back of the stance. This will also compliment your hand position over the ball. This ball position will enable you to make a sharp contact with a slightly steeper decent into the shot.
  3. 3. Swing length- Apply slightly more pressure in your wrists to reduce your wrist action and swing with a 3/4 back-3/4 through swing. This will give you the best acceleration for this shot and give you good control of the clubface.
