To get the most effective contact and distance control, there are 3 factors to take into account when pitching.
- Make sure that when you’re in your setup position your weight distribution is correct. Place about 60% of your body weight on your left side (target side) This will ensure that you promote the most effective path and contact for your shot
- Choose you ball position and the height of your pitch. Placing the ball in the back half of the stance will result in a lower ball flight where a ball position towards the centre will result in a higher flight (practice these different shots to see the reaction when the ball lands, this will give you the best idea of when to use the different trajectories)
- Maintain posture and balance throughout the shot. A good posture with minimal weight transfer thoughout this shot will result in a consistent repeatable ball strike.
